熒光增白劑的作用原理是吸收光線中不可見的紫外光，并發(fā)出可見的藍(lán)光，與織物發(fā)出的黃光進(jìn)行疊加后，互補(bǔ)形成白光，使織物發(fā)出的白光增加，肉眼可感覺到白色織物明顯變得亮白，這就是亮白效果。
CBS是發(fā)布的行業(yè)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)《洗滌劑用熒光增白劑》中,規(guī)定可用于衣物洗滌劑的熒光增白劑之一，是安全環(huán)保的。CBS用于衣物洗滌劑中。
（1）對皮膚無刺激
經(jīng)過多年的動物及人體試驗(yàn)表明：即使是皮膚直接接觸熒光增白劑CBS純品，對皮膚也無刺激性，不會導(dǎo)致皮膚過敏。
（2）對傷口愈合無不良影響
發(fā)表于1994年《德國皮膚病學(xué)》雜志上的《熒光增白劑的毒理學(xué)性質(zhì)》一文中指出，即使是用含有熒光增白劑的紡織材料直接接觸傷口，也不會對傷口愈合產(chǎn)生不良影響，且不會對人體皮膚造成病理性變化。
他也提到洗滌劑用熒光增白劑對環(huán)境安全無危害，易降解，不會在生物體內(nèi)蓄積。衣物洗滌劑用熒光增白劑在全球也已使用了40多年，其安全性獲得各國科學(xué)家、部門和機(jī)構(gòu)的廣泛認(rèn)可。
